VINTAGE SNOWMOBILE CLUB OF THE ADIRONDACKS MEETING JULY 22nd 2011 The VSCA meeting scheduled for the 22nd of July 2011 took place as planned at the Legion Hall, in Lyon Mountain, New York. Two new members joined the Club, they are: Richard Clark and Dicky Riel, both of Huntingdon Québec. In addition, Richard mentioned that his brother and son would be joining the Club at the next meeting. Four patch designs were shown to the members present at the meeting and unanimously the design with the white snowmobile and the tan and black background was chosen. An order for 200 patches was sent out on the 26th of July 2011and they will be shipped directly to the President’s, Paul Sayas, home in Lyon Mountain. There is an approximate delivery delay of 14 calendar days, or less, before reception. Again, upon payment for the 2011-2012 membership fees, each member will receive a patch free of charge. The members also decided that the snowmobile ride to Mountain View, Belly’s, will be changed to High Falls Lounge Rt.3, Saranac, New York. The approximate distance of the ride is 20 miles and all details of the ride will be given at a later date. However, Paul Sayah, president, will commence immediately the paperwork in order to obtain all necessary permits allowing the VSCA members and guests to use the trails leading to High Falls Lounge. Note that the planned runs to High Falls Lounge as well as the one to take place in Canada will not coincide with the Whiteout or the “Gathering of Antique Snowmobile Collectors” in Valcourt Québec, tentatively scheduled for the 18th of February 2012. Regarding the run that will occur in Canada, possibly from Athelstan Québec to Rockburn Québec, Richard Clark will contact the organiser to inquire if the VSCA members can ride along. We don’t foresee a problem, but it is best that permission be asked on account that the wooded trail crosses several farms belonging to different owners. Also, the VSCA’s participation at the Franklin County Fair was not retained on account that it would be difficult to have someone present during the entire fair as well as the cost of the rental space was somewhat high. Instead, the members of the Club will attend and/or show their antique sleds at the Chateauguay Valley Antique Association Fair that will take place on Saturday the 27th of August 2011 in Rockburn Québec. In order to get the best spots at the fair, it’s advised that the members get there between 7:30 and 8:00, even earlier if possible. For more details regarding the Fair, go to cvantiqueassoc.ca , that also has under one of the headings the directions. David of David’s Vintage Snowmobile Page emailed to say he is bringing a 1979 JAG Free Air to the Fair and that he will ask two of his friends to come along with their sleds The incorporation of the VSCA will commence soon. George Dufrane Jr., son of George Dufrane Sr., former dealer and racer of MOTO-SKI snowmobiles as well as founder and director of Dufrane Motor Distribution that manufactured the SNO CHIEF in Malone New York, has indicated that he wishes to become a member of the VSCA and share numerous stories of his father and uncle, pioneers of the sport. Lastly, the next meeting is scheduled for the 30th of September 2011, and most likely will be held once again at the Legion Hall in Lyon Mountain.
